How to get from Athens Airport to City Centre

You can travel from Athens Airport to the city centre using 4 different means of transport; taxi, private transfer, metro or bus.

1. By public bus

The most common bus route for this journey is the X95 bus.  The X95 bus connects Athens International Airport (AIA) with Syntagma Square in the city center.

Frequency / price: Buses operate frequently throughout the day and night, typically running every 20 minutes during the day and every 30 minutes during the night. the ticket price for the X95 bus is approximately 5.5 euros per person. This price and itinerary’s frequency may vary, so it’s a good idea to check for any updates before your journey.

Travel Time: The journey from the airport to the city center usually takes around 45 minutes to 1h 20 minutes, depending on traffic conditions.
Even with empty roads, the minimum driving time by bus is 45 minutes early in the morning (for example at 5-6 am)

The X93 bus connects Athens International Airport (ATH) with Kifissos Intercity Bus Station.
While the X95 is one of the most popular and frequent bus lines connecting Athens Airport with the city center (Syntagma Square), the other lines (X93, X96, X97, X98, X99) serve different destinations and may not be as common or frequent. The X95 tends to have more frequent departures and a higher number of passengers due to its direct route to the city center.

2. By metro

There is a metro line that connects Athens Airport (Athens International Airport “Eleftherios Venizelos”) with the city center of Athens. The metro line that serves the airport is called Line 3 (also known as the Blue Line).
